Bob Lanzetti Rocks Bach
by on June 26, 2020 in NEWS

Bob Lanzetti, guitarist of three-time Grammy Award winning jazz/funk collective Snarky Puppy, has released a new EP – Bach Two-Part Inventions Vol 1 – where he performs the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. To quote Bob, “the concept for recording all of this music was to play the original compositions as they were written but with very different sounds or textures.”

I recorded track #4 – Invention #2 in Cm – at NWS with Bob and his friends Jordan Peters on electric guitar, Ross Pederson on drums, and Matt Aronoff on bass. This take on a JSB work features two electric guitars providing the melody/countermelody while the chaotic percussion provides a sonic contrast as the bass holds down the harmonic framework.

This release follows up Bob’s 2017 solo debut Whose Feet Are These That Are Walking that was recorded and mixed at NWS.
