Music culture site AUX says it “recalls gritty and soulful icons like Sheryl Crow or Emmylou Harris, and lyrically is largely inspired by her adopted hometown of Brooklyn.”
Record lists six tunes produced at NWS and features Meghann on vocals and guitar, Andrew Nesbitt on drums and myself on guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, keys and percussion – except for Diamonds Blaze with Robby Sinclair on drums and a stripped down Third Eye Blind cover of Motorcycle Drive By.
I co-wrote the lead off track “Black Kiss” with Meghann and we snuck it in just before she headed out on tour. REVUE says “there isn’t a lot of blues-rock music hitting the mainstream, but Meghann Wright could change all that. Her latest single, “Black Kiss”, is a catchy but dark blues rocker. Like the great singer-songwriters, such as Thea Gilmore and Neko Case, Wright sings with not just passion but with an attitude.”
